Friday April 20th
This year we have some big surprises in the entertainment area. It all starts
with "Welcome to Rims on the River" pre-event parties. Local downtown
venues will be hosting a variety of live bands and general entertainment
welcoming you all to a weekend of awesome live music and cool cars, hot rods,
and motorcycles! Check the BAND page for all updates.
Saturday April 21st
Car placement begins at 9:00am with the car show beginning at 11:00am, and going til 5:00pm. Every year we have hundreds of vehicles, and this year we're
expecting more! In the event of rain, the show will postponed until the
following day, Sunday April 22nd. Be sure to check out the radio controlled car
pit at Princess and N. Front St.. The car show wraps up with awards
presentation at approximately 4:00, at Baily Theater Park at 18 N. Front St.,
across from the Front Street Brewery.
Rims on the River Free Concert
is being held down at Riverfront Park on Water St.,across from the
Federal Building on the Cape Fear River. Concert headliner for
this year will be announced right after January 1st, 2012, and we’ve
got someone that we know you all love, stay tuned! Opening acts will be announced at that time also. Following the concert, the party continues on with post parties at all of the participating venues, with more great live acts. Check the Bands page for more details on the parties!
Sunday April 17th
This year we’ve got something new that we’re rolling out for all of our friends
that will be hanging around on Sunday afternoon, we’re calling it “Locals
Only”. “Locals Only” is being sponsored by our friends at Barbary Coast, Duck &
Dive, and The Reel Cafe.
Bring your car or motorcycle down, for this FREE cruise-in held on Dock St. (between Water & S.2nd St.) and S. Front (between Dock & Orange St.), from 12:00 to 5:00PM.
Trophies will be given by our three sponsors, in addition to more surprises and
giveaways! While you're here don't forget “Rims on
the River Hot Rod Lunch and Brunch”, stop for some good eats at all our
favorite restaurants, and let’s start talking about next years show! All Rims
on the River restaurants will be listed on the official website, so be sure to
check out the listing under the Bands link.
We will also have some vending again this year, anything that is car culture
related. Tinting, car artwork, cleaning products, engines, clothing, etc. Please
check the vendor page for a application
If you’re coming in from out of town, be sure to stay with our friends at the
following hotels, who are providing discounts to all Rims On The River
participants. Be sure to let them know that you’re in town for the
Rims on the River show, and they’ll give you a discounted room.
